When comparing prices, it is necessary to:

1. Compare prices from at least 10 or more discount dental plan providers. Today dental plans are much competitive and you are sure to find cheap prices when there is more competition.

2. A familiar name doesn’t necessarily guarantee better service. Some plans are national and others are local. National plans will usually more famous and recognizable.

Timely wise decision about discount Dental plan saves lot of dollars

By Stephan Smith - December 10th, 2009, 18:54, Category: Discount Dental Plans

Discount dental plans are in vogue throughout America. It saves on dental bills, dental visits, and the overall cost for domestic as well as commercial use. A peek into what they really are.

A discount dental plan is a plan that can be joined by you, the client, and by the providers, especially dentists and dental surgeons. A fee is generally charged for the plan sometimes monthly or quarterly. This is basically for your right to participate as a member of the requisite plan. Membership of a plan allows discounted services at the dentists’ practice area who have agreed to offer rates at a discounted price for members of the relevant plan. The discount is counted as a percentage off from the provider's standard fees but some plans may charge you for some procedures. The more comprehensive the list of discounts offered by the provider, the more in demand the plan is, in the market.

Although dentists and other health care providers are part of the medical profession and its code of ethics, they are also doing small business, although not wholly. They have restrictions of not to overtly advertise or ruin other doctors’ names. By joining a discount medical plan as a provider, he or she can increase his/ her group of potential clients that might otherwise have passed them by. Members satisfied with the treatment will return to that provider again and again, resulting in publicity for the dentist or any provider.

Dental plans are not a type of dental insurance, and chances are that even cosmetic procedures are sometimes not covered by standard discount dental plans. They work where you have to shell money and then receive discounts on them.

NOTE: A drawback to these plans is that not all dentists are members. Sometimes the dentist which was in the plan might not be offering discounts the next time around forcing you to go elsewhere to save on money. It is important to check on the number of providers in an area before agreeing to a plan.

A discount dental plans is usually purchased to save on future costs and also because membership costs are relatively small compared to the amount of money which one might have to shell on the historically large bills of the dentist later.

Some dental plans are bundled with other healthcare services. Sometimes additional charges are levied, sometimes not. This may vary from plan to plan, and hence it is necessary to compare the plans before committing on any of them. Some shopping around for the number of providers in the plan may be of value. Providers often offer services at high or low rates than the dentist you might know before. They have merely agreed to discount their costly charges to less expensive rates, but they might turn costly for you.

Check out AmericanDiscountDental.com for more details. Save 10% to 60% on most dental procedures. The site has the most dentist listings in combined networks anywhere! There are discounts on dental specialties available too.

Dental Problems All Over US, Seeks to Reduce Costs

By Stephan Smith - December 10th, 2009, 18:45, Category: Discount Dental Plans

Thousands of people flocked    to New Havens on the 17th and the 18th of April for benefiting from free dental care. The second annual Connecticut Mission of Mercy which is a free dental clinic will be organized on both days starting at 5 am, at the New Haven Public Field House, 480 Sherman Parkway, in New Haven.

Thousands of people flocked to the place as dental costs are rising like hell, and the recession has added woes by emptying up people’s pockets. More and more such events are being organized in the US to relieve the people from their dental troubles, and there are some volunteers who are genuinely concerned about the whole thing. Estimates by the mission revealed that more than a million people lack dental access. More and more residents lose jobs too as the unemployment rate increases month after month. People are also losing access to dental insurance. Those dependent on Medicaid and state-administered assistance might also lose their dental coverage in an effort to close on with the massive budget gap.

“The economy is itself in cavities, not only the teeth,” Dental care has always taken a back set compared to general health, hence, most people prefer to cutback on it when times are not strong enough.”

Reports say that many of those who are insured for the time-being are trying to get the expensive treatments done before their insurance cover is taken away from them. Most companies are eliminating or reducing the dental benefits which they were offering before. Some dental plans have also reduced on the dental coverage limits from putting on one dental crown for every five years to only one in every 10 years. Some have even increased the co-pay on a root canal treatment from about 20% to 50%.

“Actually what happens is, that in a troublesome economy hovering, people who are without dental insurance are not going to the dentist or avoid going to him,” This is only driving people to have stinking gums, bad teeth, and a mouth full of cavities.”

We help people to save on about 60% of the total dental expenses with more than 100,000 dental providers who are affiliated to the plan. What’s more, if a person joins today, services are free for the first three months! Isn’t that incredible?”

This is real alternative to the high cost of health protection.  This is not insurance.  This is a discount health program. With the annual membership, you’ll receive our American Discount Dental Card by any dental plans. This card provides savings through physicians and medical providers, as well as dental, hearing, vision, and ancillary services. This program is ideal for those who:

•    Those who cannot afford an insured plan;

•    Those who are uninsurable or have critical policy exclusions;

•    Those who are unemployed or working part-time;

•    Those who have health insurance but have limited or no coverage for dental, prescription drugs, vision, alternative care, and long-term care.

•    Those who are healthy and rarely take advantage of insured benefits, but want access to reduced rates just in case.

Dental and Mouth Problems Can Affect You in Your Bodily Health

By Stephan Smith - December 10th, 2009, 18:30, Category: Discount Dental Plans

Dental problems are quite typical in nature; even a bad tooth can affect you very badly and cause you unbearable pain. Some problems can be really painful and create side-effects and ills in the head or other parts of the body. This article particularly suggests this dilemma and its solution.

In the past, oral health has been associated only with the mouth. But new research by medical institutes has revealed that pain in gums and cavities can cause heart attacks and strokes. Periodontitis has been researched to be the cause of premature birth, low birth weight, pancreatic cancer, etc.

The American Dental Association (ADA) disagrees that the bodily problems are caused by dental ones. Bacterial endocarditis which is an infection in the lining of the heart or heart valves is a common risk associated with periodontal disease.

About Gum Disease:

Gingivitis and Periodontitis are two major stages of gum disease. Gingivitis is the early stage while Periodontitis is the more serious and advanced stage of gum disease, which includes bone loss and is irreversible. Poor oral hygiene is the most common cause of periodontitis.

Gum diseases can be prevented by flossing daily and with regular check ups to the local dentist. But do you think you can afford that much for you and your family? How much money do you shell on it? Do you want to save on it?

Discount dental plans are fast catching up the hype which started when they emerged in the arena of the dental world.  They are basically designed for individuals, families and groups looking to save money on their dental care needs.

Dental Problem Statistics for You and its Prevention

By Stephan Smith - December 10th, 2009, 18:09, Category: Discount Dental Plans

The article is about the recent statistics with regards to people behavior related to their dental checkup and treatment. Further, a solution is also provided for dental care which is lucrative enough.

According to the study done by National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research in February 2009, nearly half of all old people who are aged 65 or older have visited the dentist in 2008.  The more staggering figure is that about 23% of the rest of the sexagenarians have not visited the dentist in the last 5 years. Further, according to the CDC Summary of Health Statistics 2007, about 44% of adults who are aged 18 and higher have last contacted a dentist within the last 6 months. The CDC study revealed that 1% percent of adults had never contacted a dentist or other dental health professional.

These are alarming statistics in themselves. Dental problems have been on the rise during this decade and have almost quadrupled in 3 years.  Also, according to American Association of Orthodontists, 2008, only 59% of new patients possess dental insurance which also includes orthodontic and other benefits.

Trends have also shown up in different causes of dental problems, stress being one of them. Doctors have proved a direct link between dental ailments and the increasing stress in different types of individuals and scenarios. Doctors consider stress a vital contributing factor to many health problems, which includes dental weakness. Stress-related dental problems were known to ancient societies thousands of years ago. Teeth, gums and other oral structures are easily affected by hypertension and stress, say experts.

Severe forms of tooth decay were reported in very stressed-out patients, especially women. Stress also causes grinding and clinching which can lead to over-use of the masticatory forces, and cheek muscles may droop down. Cavities and abnormal shapes get created due to stress and grinding and clinching.

According to dentists worldwide, dental problems can be prevented through muscle relaxants, occlusal night guards, occlusal adjustments, full mouth rehabilitation, and psychological treatment. But the main obstacle which deters people going to the dentist is to pay his or her fees. It is difficult for old and poor people to afford the bills of dentists.

Healthy Teeth for Babies Key to future Dental Health

By Stephan Smith - December 10th, 2009, 17:59, Category: Discount Dental Plans

Healthy teeth help babies to chew food easily, and to speak properly. They also help to have babies a beautiful, healthy smile. In addition to that, baby teeth are the place keepers of permanent teeth. They prevent early diseases and tooth loss and also help in preventing future orthodontic issues.

Fortunately, dental disease can be easily prevented and afforded by the lower strata of the society too. Here are two simple tips for babies for retaining a healthy smile for a long time:

1.    Practice healthy eating and healthy habits

Healthy habits are a must for having healthy teeth. Many dental cavities in baby teeth are caused due to incorrect feeding practices when they are very young. Putting your baby to bed with a bottle can lead to early dental health issues. Once you notice your baby is done with feeding enough, it is best to wean the bottle away to prevent exposing teeth to liquids with sugar for long periods.

2.    Rinse teeth with water after meals

Don’t start brushing your children's teeth until they eat solid foods, but simply rinse their  teeth with water after meals can wash away many food particles that lead to tooth decay. Once your children's teeth start growing and become strong, you can use a toothbrush, even if you're not actually brushing their teeth. This will help babies to learn healthy brushing techniques for the future and clean the debris and dirt from their teeth due to eating of sugary foods.

Take your child to the dentist on its first birthday itself. American Dental Association (AMA) recommends that parents should consult the dentist after six months of the coming of the first tooth or its first birthday. Do not wait until a child is three or older for taking him or her to the dentist.

You can save money on Childs dental health by enrolling to discount dental plans which save a lot of money though discounts on dental checkups. These plans allow many to save on various dental procedures and consultation and some offer additional benefits.

Dental problems worldwide and its solutions

By Stephan Smith - December 10th, 2009, 17:38, Category: Discount Dental Plans

What will you do if you have to shell out thousands of dollars every year on dental procedures, check ups, treatment, and consultation for yourself and your family?  Yes you surely want to…right? Well there is never a case when people do not want to save money especially in these recession times. But first, you should know the overall scenario and the actual benefits a plan offers.

In October 2008, The University of South Carolina released a study related to the dental problems, ailments, and natural obstacles faced by American children. The study also covered all the aspects of the current level of dental treatment provided to these children. The results were astonishing as 25 percent of children in US were estimated to not receive dental care last year. Imagine, sucha plight in a developed country like USA. The study also showed that African-American and Hispanic children were the worst losers with regards to dental coverage which is an alarming statistic in itself.

“Children are the first sacrificial lambs to neglect due to the high cost of dental procedures. It is a tragedy that such a high number of children go without dental insurance or any other dental coverage.”

The reality is that there are standard types of  dental plans available for consumers to choose from and save on dental health. But many people are unaware of such plans and do not know if they can save on their dental expenses or not. Many people make the mistake of thinking that getting their teeth fixed is easy. Many resort to the traditional medium of dental insurance to solve their problems. They think that one just has to go and see an insurance agent, offline or online, and buy dental insurance. But, just like any other type of insurance, dental insurance does not cover any pre-existing condition and that is really bad.

It has been seen repeatedly that dental insurance plans have limitations on the number of dental visits, radiographs (X-rays) and treatments that are covered, and other services like cosmetic dental procedures may be excluded.

The percentage of Americans with untreated cavities began rising this decade, reversing a half-century trend of improvement in dental health.

In 2006, a study revealed that Arkansas children have the worst teeth in the USA, closely followed by California. According to the new study, over 70% of third graders in California suffer or have suffered from tooth decay. Hispanics and children from poorer families have the highest levels of tooth decay.

The study carried out by The Dental Health Foundation and officials said the problem is very closely linked to low income and ethnicity. They said that even though tooth decay was lower among children from higher income families, even there it was much higher than expected.

Tooth decay has been cited by both the reports as the single most common chronic childhood malady. Hence it is important for various agencies to support the cause and stress on the need for children to have good dental coverage during this developmental period in their lives. Due to negligence many children had to suffer from several oral health infections. Lack of dental services and treatment can also lead children to lack of self-esteem, depression, and constant interference with their routine activities.

Dental Problems and Dental Plans

By Stephan Smith - December 9th, 2009, 20:29, Category: Discount Dental Plans

I have had a great fear of all doctors since childhood. I am now 27 and have not gone to a dentist in the last 15 years, can you believe it? My teeth started crumbling 2 months ago, but my fear prevented me to keep mum about my problems and not disclose it to my mum who’s old now (she cannot nag even if she wants to). But eventually the pain was such that I had to arrange for a visit to the local dentist.

I had a dental insurance plan with me, but it so turned out that my mother forced me to take dental insurance 15 days ago, hence was disqualified for availing that benefit. I had this ailment for 2 months now. That made me bitter again. I changed 7 dentists before I had to give in eventually to a dentist who was reasonable enough for me. I took a local discount plan of this dentist and sat on his chair.  I had to persevere with him when I finally had him extract my teeth, but my phobia just increased with the coming days.

I could sense that repeated visits to the dentist will prove costly to me hence I browsed on the net  for some discount dental plans which offered discounts in the range of 10-60% annually on my dental expenses. I went through many of them but was unconvinced about their work and discounts that they offered. Also, though the discounts seemed pleasing , most of them didn’t have dental doctors or providers in our area. At last, I found out AmericanDiscountDental.com, which caught my attention although it sounded a little queer by name.

After I brought the Aetna dental discount card through AmericanDiscount Dental.com, my family had 2 root canals, 2 extractions, and a 6 unit bridge in two months. I had not taken this card, it would have at least cost me about $200 for the same. I saved almost $92, because the provider and doctor I went to were part of the dental plan. I had a queer fear to about docs, but as I was saving money in the process, all my fear vanished into thin air. I know this is surprising, but I don’t know till this day what happened then. I got rid of my malady and my fear.

So for all my fellow dental phobics...don’t opt for dental insurance please, please find yourself a discount dental plan. Dental insurance has a lot of problems for qualification. I would never have let my teeth get so bad in the first place, but better late than never. Don’t let your phobia make your condition worse! Get a lucrative dental plans and avail a discount and also in a timely manner.
